What's a fair selling price for a 16 GB 3GS?

Someone is offering to sell me their one year old 16 GB iPhone 3GS with "normal wear." He's asking $200 based on this site: http://nextworth.com/.

Seems a bit steep to me. Is that a fair price?

The price given by nextworth just dropped to $173 today. Go figure!

That's a very very good price. Those recycling sites are always ripping people off. If he's going by that he's pretty stupid, but it's a really great deal.

You can probably sell it on eBay or Craigslist for about $300 - $400, depending on it's condition.

I bought my 3GS from a guy on Craigslist for $500 a few months ago, and at that time people selling there 16GB 3GS for about $600, and 3G for around $300 - $400.

I wouldn't go through Nextworth. They'll give you next to nothing for your phone, and then turn around and sell it for at least $400. I've been hearing people getting quoted for $300+ dollars, but when they send their (no scratches) iPhone in, Nextel contacts them saying it's only worth half the price of the online quote.

Everyone's gonna tell ya something different, I'd say $300 locked, $400 unlocked. Mine sold for $420 unlocked with a crack in the back. Go look at finished ebay auctions to give you an idea.

Mine has a starting bid of $185 on eBay. I'm hoping it ends close to $300-

I actually prefer selling stuff on Craigslist these days. For one, it's local, you don't have to deal with the shipping and online payments. Second, you pick your set price, and more times than not, someone WILL buy it for the asking (as long as it's not completely unreasonable). And third, it's a quick transaction once you find a buyer. Cash on the spot.

With eBay, if you started at $185, and hoping it might close at $300, it may not reach that high. So you could be losing out. But at the same time you could go over $400. It's a gamble. As I said with Craigslist, you set the price, either they buy it or they don't. But someone always does.

sell it on craigslist for $300-$350.

You can unlock the 3G on 4.0 but not unlock the 3Gs on 4.0......yet

I think thats a big selling point.

So more then likely, if someone buys it for cheap, their going to save it until the jailbreak is released.

Maybe it's my luck or because of the hundreds of people trying to sell their iPhones right now, but I got no offers (except 1 scammer) trying to sell my like new condition 16GB 3GS with pictures...go figure.

I might just repost in a week at a lower price point.

The price of a used 3GS is going to plummet in the coming weeks, as people upgrade to the iPhone 4.

Since the new phone is out, there should be a flood of these by the weekend. I would happily pay $250 for a 32gb.

I sold my 16GB 3GS yesterday for $220. It wasn't unlocked nor jailbroken so I couldn't ask as much I wanted for it. I shouldn't have updated to 4.0.
