I like my iMac---am I the only one
So maybe 4 months ago I bought a 27" iMac and I love it....maybe there is someone out there that is having a good time! Seems like this is not a MacRumor forum but a MacIssues forum...

In forums like this, you see a lot people complaining about their issues rather that saying how good their iMac is because they come to here to look for some help.
I love mine, have always did, just like most of the owners of an iMac |

also, in many cases a lot of the hate comes from those who don't own one, merely voicing issues on how the components that make up the iMac look on paper (ie gpus and cpus).

I may have made the odd comment about components
![]() But above all else I am very certain of one thing. You pay a LOT for an iMAC. You pay a LOT more than you would for the same spec of PC So you are paying for 2 things. 1: The style/design/construction. 2: Quality. The 1st is a given, apart from the odd story about a scratch or a bent stand, I'd think we are all happy about this aspect. What people are not happy about is paying the Premium and getting sub standard quality. Yellow screens, noisy drives, flickery screens, buzzing screens/power supplies etc. That's not what people pay for and not what they should expect. I've seen a number of people comment that they feel Apple's quality control has slipped a lot recently (Perhaps they just trying to do too much?) I know if I'd paid out £2000 ($3000) on some top end mac (that I could of spent on a PC that was a much higher spec) then I dam well expect it to be as near perfect as can be as that's what I'm paying the extra for. |

Couple months ago I ordered an alienware area 51 desktop for 4,800.00 Au apart from the video card and the Bly ray burner the iMac could compare for a cheaper cost of 3,300.00 Iam glad I cancelled it I also am using an Dell XPS 710 and have nothing but problems replaced key board and mouse, motherboard, speakers, DVD drive plus the countless errors with vista no sound in media centre, an error every-time I place a DVD etc once I get my iMac Iam sure I will love it 2

I absolutely loved my i7 for the 2 days that I had it! It had a row of dead pixels right out of the box, brand spanking new.
Anyway, it's Christmas at my house today. Both the replacement and my iPhone 4 32GB are moments away from being delivered!! |

iMacs are all-in-one, so they shouldn't be compared to towers to begin with; but could one really put together a decent tower pc with same components, the 2560x1440 screen etc for around the same price? Include software too.

I have an iMac from May of last year (2009). I guess that means its only a 24" iMac. I do know that I love it. Because of that iMac and my positive experiences with it, I've decided to get macs going forward. I love the operating system and the style. I went without a TV for over a year and the iMac was a little trooper. I played all my DVDs on it (until I just got a new TV last month) and they look great. I also use it for gaming (City of Heroes) and browsing and etc.
Love it. I can't wait until the next iMac refresh, however big or small it is. I think I'm going to buy another one. Or maybe a Mac Pro. Or both. I'm currently loving the new mac mini server I just got, which will become my media center PC.Anyway, the iMac got me going down this path and I'm having lots of fun. Good times! |

I LOVE my new i7 27" iMac!
I am new to Macs but after using my Macbook for sometime i had to get a iMac...I had it for almost a week now and this thing is awesome! I also own a 2.93Ghz i7 PC ( yeah i know having both is overkill ) and running some comparison tests, the iMac is about 3 seconds faster! The ONLY thing that i am not really a huge fan of is the USB ports being in the rear ( though i know i can get a USB hub ) i do have the wired Apple keyboard that has the 2 USB ports on it, So thats a bonus ( not a fan of the small wireless keyboard with no keypad ) So far i have not had any issues and i have it running 18hrs a day.. Cool part is, I am learning something new everyday on this thing! The bad part is, I have not turned my PC on in about 4 days ( just turned it on to stream movies to my PS3 ) A lot of the posts are here were negative but then i thought this is a Forum and people are here looking for help or have issues with there devices, So expect to see a lot of "Its Broke" posts... |

I love my 27" i5, probably because I've had zero problems with it.

i had problems with my imac i7 it was a refurb from the apple store and arrived with no ram, ok applecare was a long annoying phone call, but after purchasing on the 16th yesterday arrived my new fully functional machine.
i have went from a 8-core 2008 mac pro with a 30" dell monitor to this imac and im in heaven everything works great and the build quality amazing, also this is quite possibly the most beautiful computer built

I certainly love my 21.5" iMac, even with the recent HDD failure. The performance and feature set blows me away. I bought my iMac and a MacBook Pro at the same time when I made "the switch" and have NO plans to go back to PC's. If only I could get away from them at work!

I love my iMac and it's almost 3 years old by now! It's a great machine even with its age and still works quite well. On a forum, as others have said, you're much more likely to hear about issues that about people praising their machines.

first imac i got was a indigo o9 g3 233mhz imac, replaced it two weeks later with the graphite g3 600mhz imac, next imac i got was a 17" g5 then a 20" white intel core duo model and now onto the 27" i7 imac.
between the g3 and g5 i had a g4titanium powerbook and with the g4 i got a g4 ibook have also had 15" g4 alu-powerbook and the black macbook currently use a unibody ibook. i also had a 2008 mac - pro 8-core. im apple fan through and through, i loved the titanium powerbook unbelievably and thought it was a machine of beauty, ok all macs are but that was my first brand new machine and did everything i needed. i love my macs, but after all this ranting i can honestly say imac = amazing machine and im glad i started where i did and never had a problem from them. and look forward to whatever other iterations it goes through

I had a white Core Duo iMac and it was horrifyingly bad.
I had an Aluminum iMac and it was the best computer ever. I have a Mac Pro now and it's excellent.
