So is anyone planning to blog the event and posts pics and video?

If so can you post URLs.

According to the BBC Weather site, its going to be a clear night with a balmy temp of 1°C and a brisk north westerly of 10mph. Happy camping!

Maybe it would be better to avoid the queues and just spend the £249 on an iPod or iPod Mini. Let's be honest, its what we're all secretly hoping for in the bag, but the odds suggest most will be disappointed.

Realistically...

How many people do you think will be there before say, 5am in the morning?

I know in Japan they had something like a thousand pepople there, but I never expected there to be quite the same level of.... well, I suppose, commitment for the Regent Street Store.

Well I don't really know anyone else who is going, but seeing as I'm in business in London on Friday I will turn up at some point, so probably see some of you there.

I think realistically I'll be getting there for 8 or 9 in the morning. I don't need a lucky bag (nor can I afford one, even for investment purposes) and hopefully I can still bag a T-shirt. If I go in with my mum, she'll pay for my train ticket ( ) but she can have a wander around Oxford Street if she's not interested in waiting with me..!

Should be cool. I'm looking to get an iPod case - hopefully my mum will refrain me from buying anything else.

I can't decide whether to spend the £250, but I think I'll get there early so I don't lose the chance.

Has anyone heard if the ipod photos will be in stock? Want to walk out with the 40GB.

It looks like I will be coming down then. Really want one of those goody bags, and also need to buy my sister a pink iPod mini. My local JLewis is out of stock, so can kill two birds with one stone.

Just wondering if the Apple stores usually accept payment for purchases with more than one credit card? I remember being in Currys and they said they can take up to 5 in one transaction..but I'm wondering just in case I get into the spending kind of mood!

What I'm *really* hoping for is an Airport card for my Cube. Not that optimistic about the odds, though...

Actually I'd rather not have an iPod as I already have an iPod Photo 60GB... the other stuff is far more useful so if I get one I don't mind losing mine for a few things in someone elses bag.

With a lot of us it shouldn't be too much of a problem - I'll be taking mine along with me along with a spare battery. Some ppl mentioned that Apple may have some security ppl anyway so that will help somewhat. Of course you can never be too sure so I'd certainly always keep the laptop in your sights and watch out for shady characters hanging around.

more importantly......

do you think they'll be power sockets? Would it be worth asking apple to trail a few extension leads outside?? ?

I expect they'll all be working over night putting finishing touches to the store. It would be an act of charity I suppose. What do you all thing. Seriously!

Also do you think they might plant a base station near the door so we could get online ? That would be a v good way of passing the time. Also we could all be on ichat! A bit sad but it would make the hours go by that little bit faster. And we could have a competition. The first person to name apple's failed console doesn't have to get the coffee and muffins.
your thoughts?

see you there.
probably late. still not sure whether the lucky bags are worth all the fuss.
let me know.

How about someone naming all the companies that actually released a Pippin? And what companies were going to release one but didn't.

As for power, I doubt it very much - if anyone has a portable generator they wish to bring along i'm sure we'd all be greatfull ;-)

AirPort is also a little unlikely, but then that depends on how far on they are with putting everything together. Certainly everytime ppl have walked by, myself included, we've commented on how much work it looks like is left.

Btw, anybody been passed this week, progress report?

I'm not sure you'd get it as an act of charity. As an act of sleep-deprived insanity, possibly... If there's the slightest risk of rain, or even someone spilling their coffee over an extension lead, this is the sort of thing that would have insurance companies rubbing their hands in glee, pausing only to sprinkle sand into the Vaseline...

Talking about Wi-Fi I'm sure there must be an open WiFi point somewhere in that area... if anyone knows of any in the local vacinity it would be useful to know.

Overnighters at previous Apple Store Grand Openings (e.g. San Francisco and Shinsaibashi) have reported that there was an open AirPort network available from the store. Don't see why they wouldn't repeat this for Regent Street.

P.S. Count me in with the overnighters!

Or we could, shock horror, just talk to each other to save battery juice!
I'd like to be able to plug the PB in just to keep warm! Weather.com has gone down to -2C now.

Not sure whether the bags are worth the fuss either - but going for the experience. I've always wondered what it's like to camp out overnight in London. Since any pic you see of central London campers (as opposed to homeless) seem to be covered in Union Jacks, are they compulsory? Or is that just because it's only for Royal events that people tend to camp?
