Proximity sensor problems in iPhone 4?

Yes. Doesn't seem sensitive enough. If you move it one way or another, it will turn the screen on. It usually happens when I'm trying to hold the phone to my ear with my shoulder. This *should be an easy fix for apple.
It's done it to me too when holding it, but not as easily as when I'm holding with my shoulder trying to write something or whatever I'm doing.
Yep - I'm having the same problem. I think it's not sensitive enough. When I was one particular phone call with the phone to me ear it must have hit my cheek numerous times. I was talking and all of the sudden I heard beeps in my ear. What had happened was my cheek had hit the "Contacts" button in the lower right of the call screen, then my cheek selected a contact, then my cheek selected a new ringtone for that contact and it started playing while I was on the phone. WEIRD.
I have also put 2 other callers on hold the same way. I hope they can fix it with software.

Read this earlier and was thinkin, yeahhhh perfect iPhone... WELL THAT'S BECAUSE I HAD ONLY MADE ONE CALL! Went grocery shopping and was on the phone and dropped my own call about 7 times... I finally gave up! Wow and this doesn't seem like it will be able to be a software fix either... NOT stoked.
i went in today for a genius appointment because every single call lasting over a minute, something would be pressed (facetime, mute, merge, etc). the swapped out the phone only cuz he was being nice since he couldnt replicate the problem in the store. same thing happens on the replacement phone though.
ive had every iphone, and never had a problem before this one. he said they are using the same sensor, but the location changed. regardless, it's VERY annoying and hopefully it can be fixed w/ a software update.

Resolved our issue
We had the issue of the screen lighting up when the iPhone was to our ear and going black when moving it down to see it. Turned out it was the case we were using. There was a strap going across the top portion interfering. We got new cases, ones that form fit the sides and back and we no longer have the issue at all.

So far I've had no problems with the proximity sensor. I've had a handful of phone conversations with the screen staying off while I talked (I even checked in a mirror for one conversation).
Count me in for having issues with the proximity sensor.
I hung up on a few friends, muted myself 3 times, and accidentally tried to conference in another friend (at 1 AM, no less!). I was talking to a friend, and all the sudden I hear ringing like I am calling someone, pull the phone away, and sure enough, I some how hit "Add call" and clicked a favorite!

Had this happen again today. I tried holding the phone between my shoulder and ear and it kept hitting number keys.

Twice my wife has complained to me about "face dialing" her friend while in the middle of a conversation! She says she's managed to hang up and call other people while holding the phone to her ear...
Not having the same issues, I totally wrote if off as user error and she didn't appreciate that! Guess I'll have to apologize!

How To Fix Proximity Sensor Issue
I had the same problem with my IP4 and it turns out there's some bug in the phone when you restore your new phone to your old profile. You have to sync it up as a new user in iTunes and put all your settings back manually. It fixed the issue with me...

I am having the same damn problem!!!
I was actually going to start a thread about this cause today I had heard 2 number tones and also a call tried to start up a facetime conversation.
I have had the number tone about 5 times, facetime once, 2 hung up calls, and gone to contacts and key pad many times.
I sure hope this is just a software issue cause the signal holding thing sucks... but THIS issue pisses me off WAY more!
Glad to know its not my phone though and others are experiencing this as well.

Not in my case - I set my iPhone 4 up as a new phone yet I still have the proximity sensor issue.
I'm also having this issue. I've also noticed that even with a case, and even when NOT touching the phone at all, AND while having a reported perfect signal (5 bars), I have dropped more than half my calls...at least. WTF!
