can the iBook be used without a battery?
i mean if i take the battery out and connect the laptop to the mains, will it still work?

also, if it does, how do i remove the battery? is it really worth the hassle

While I haven't tried it I'm pretty sure you could. Although it'd be wobbly since that the whole front right part of your iBook for the most part.

I'm pretty sure you can. Everytime they are on display at stores they do not have a battery in them. I know you can with my PB. To take the batter out you just turn the screw-looking thing on the back. It has a lock and unlock symbol by it.

yes it works but as soon as u disconnected the power cord the ibook will shut down. So watch it if u do important work ( trust me it's not fun at all 🙁 )

confirmation

so i can:
1. take out the battery
2. connect the power cord
3. turn the iBook on
4. use it as normal

but

if the cord comes out, then im in trouble.

right?

If you shut down you ibook (without the batt.)
and then remove your plug, all your settings in the pram (parameter-ram)
will go.. This includes clock, etc...

Why would you use your ibook without the battery?

i used to use my notebook sans battery for weight/heat issues, but then i realized the hard way that your battery is a sort of ups in a power outage. not that it provides surge protection, but i obviously plug it into a surge suppressor, but it does of course keep the computer powered when the power's off. i know that's pretty obvious but it took me awhile to realize it.
