Apple today is holding its iPhone 4 press conference where it is expected to address issues with the device's cellular signal reception.

The event is scheduled to kick off at Apple's Cupertino headquarters at 10:00 AM Pacific Time / 1:00 PM Eastern Time, or just about one hour from now. Apple will not be providing live video or audio coverage of the event, and thus observers will have to rely primarily on text and photo updates coming out of the event.

Via Kottke:
Steve Jobs will come out on stage and will sit in front of a large olde tyme cash register. He will immediately begin taking questions from the assembled journalists and bloggers. As the first-question scrum begins, Jobs will start madly ringing up purchases on the very loud register while pointing to his ears, shaking his head, and shouting "gosh, I'm sorry I can't hear you guys over the sound of the register". This will continue for several minutes and then the press conference will be over.

I'm weirdly excited about this. I know it's probably not going to be a product launch of say the white iPhone or anything huge - it's about a big technical issue with one of their flagship products. Still, I'm thrilled something is going on today.

It's quiet, wet and rainy here. Anything exciting is welcome.

I'm sure some will complain about no blu-ray support ~~~~~~~~ Bring it on baby

Can anyone suggest what live feed to use?

Sky News (UK) says 'Watch coverage of the Apple briefing live on Sky Player from 6pm'. Likely to be Fox (semi-sister company) coverage as they are interviewing Fox guy at the moment.
Suspect it'll be an interview with the same guy afterwards though.

That iphone 4g antenna response center looks more impressive than anything I have seen for the BP spill response :)

bets

I bet that

Steve says "we're sorry" at least once

that he'll say, "people have come to expect more from apple, and they should"

"we can fix this"

"this is still the best phone in the world"

"we should have reacted more quickly, and for that we're sorry"

Three topics:

(1) iPhone Antenna Fix

(2) Game Center

(3) Verizon iPhone

You heard it here first!

Why will apple not provide live audio/video? It's their screw up that is preventing many users, including myself, from using our iPhone 4s.

I'd lol if someone snuck in a cell phone jammer.

Sadly, you're observation is spot on. Don't get me started on BP, I'll go off-topic (again) lol

Good question.

What is the production equipment?

If Apple is not recording this stuff then what is all that recording production equipment? Hopefully video of this will make Apple.com. Anyone? Ars Technica when not being overloaded has good live feed.
