This happens on more than one machine, so the specs are just general broad ones, but you can safely assume that the servers are Macs running at least 10.3, et cetera.
So Apache's running, and serving up webpages just fine when you go to some subdomain like (for example) moof.applegoddess.org which for the purposes of explaining my problem will be a redirect to my IP address, and my router forwards all that goodly stuff to 192.168.1.3, which is usually my iBook, which is Mordor.local.
So lets say I were to go to http://moof.applegoddess.org, Apache would do its magic and I'd get the directory listings of /Library/WebServer/Documents from my startup drive.
So far so good.
But what really bugs me (and this isnt just with me alone, but like everyone) is when you have an address.com/~user, like http://moof.applegoddess.org/~jane, because instead of going to that address, it redirects you to Mordor.local/~jane which only works on your private network, seeing as how it's a Rendezvous thing. On top of that Apache gives you a 403 Forbidden message if you access Mordor.local/~jane from another computer on the network.
So the permissions on the ~/Sites folder is nothing unusual:
drwxrwxr-x 2 jane admin 68 12 Nov 22:37 Sites
So just to recap, nothing wrong with the permissions, nothing evidently wrong with Apache, except everytime someone on a computer on the internet anywhere but on your private network will encounter a problem with the ~user address.
On top of that, if you go to http://moof.applegoddess.org/~jane/somefile, that somefile loads.
Sooo anyone have any suggestions as to what I should or shouldn't do? I'd like to see directory listings for the moof.applegoddess.org/~jane page without it redirecting to a private network computer.
