iPad Wifi with MyWi vs iPad 3G

Does anyone know in terms of Internet performance if there is a big difference between using a Wifi iPad with a iPhone 3G(s) via MyWi versus just a 3G iPad?

I'm wondering if there is a noticeable latency difference because of the pairing between two devices.
 
Also, if you are in the US, at&t/apple put some lockdowns on the 3g for the iPad. (from what I have heard max 20mb downloads, some apps won't stream)

but if you are connected through mywi, those restrictions won't be there.
