In announcing the return of his podcast talk show, the plugged-in John Gruber slyly hints, as he is wont to do, that Apple may be set to release a new 27-inch 16:9 widescreen display alongside updated Mac Pros and iMacs tomorrow.
We'll have much to talk about, what with the new Mac Pros (finally, right?), speed-bump iMacs, and the gorgeous new 16:9 27-inch Cinema Display that Apple might hypothetically release tomorrow.
The Mac Pro and iMac have been subjects of considerable discussion over the past few days as their availability has begun slipping in several of the company's distribution channels. A 27-inch LED Cinema Display is not a new rumor, however, as a report from March of this year pinpointed a release of just such a display along with revised Mac Pros "by June" of this year. While Apple did not meet the rumored release timeline, it appears that both products may be set to finally make their appearance along with minor bumps to the company's iMac line.

Better be available in matte..

I'd assume they'll be discontinuing the 30" Cinema Display, so they have to offer this in matte. An all glossy display lineup isn't great..

I hope stuff actually happens tomorrow. I can't wait to see what Apple does to the iMac/Mac Pro/Cinema Displays

6 years after 2560x1600 30 inch screens you'll now get now get a 2560x1440 27 inch screen as glossy-only. Do you believe that? I don't think so.

There must be a higher res screen to attract customers. Say 3840x2400 (based on DisplayPort 1.2) on 36 inch screen.

I'm just glad that legitimate rumors about new Mac Pros, etc. are finally starting to float around in bundles!

Let's hope they get the prices in line with industry. The current cost of $899 for a 24" display is absolutely laughable. Apple has great displays, but there is simply no way I'd ever pay that kind of premium.

Hopefully it has three or four different ports (HDMI, DVI, VGA, and Displayport) and a stand that has height, tilt, swivel and portrait adjustments. Plus that it is matte not glossy.

All these new toys and my iMac continues to get older and older....

Sod it, it still works flawlessly regardless! :D

This new 27" display is gonna be available at least till 2012-2013, hence my guess is that the USB HUB will be USB 3.0-ready and/or it will sport a Lightpeak port. Feel free to relate this to the same-day-with-the-new-MacPro release.

i want them all

God i really want a nice 27inch display, iphone 4, ipad and new macpro :( But i cant afford zip...well maybe i can stretch an ipad.

I wonder how much this screen will be, i hope not to high.

Apple displays cost sooooooooooo much, you might as well buy a brand new HDTV with LED edge-backlit...

I already got my 1080p HD LED backlit widescreen ready for the new Mac Pros. :D
