High end 21.5 iMac or low end 27 iMac?

Personally I don't see the point in spending so much and negating the screen.

For me it's either the base model, the base 27" or the full "go big or go home" edition.

For the sake of $200.. get the 27"

27" without hesitation. The screen is stunning. I agree with the earlier poster - either go for the bottom 21.5 or buy the 27. No point in anything inbetween.

27, the resolution and the work space is just lovely
