Hitachi have done a 400GB ATA & SATA drive for quite a while...

Therefore the 7200rpm performance, due to the data density, supposedly approaches that of a 10000rpm drive.

If the drive is quiet, I'm considering it for my iMac G5 some day...

Same here. Mine's got a 250GB Maxtor in it now, which doesn't perform as well as the 160GB Seagate in my eMac. Faster optical drive in the eMac, too.

yeah i can't decide what percentage of my imac g5's noise level is due to the 250G drive, or the other fans.

a fluid-bearing drive would be nice, and i've had other maxtor drives that are extremely loud... Maybe next year i'll be thinking of it, and by then seagate may have a quiet version of the drive-- they already did mention different cache config models, so it's not unreasonable to hope =)

still a noisy 250G makes me happier than if i'd gotten a g4 PB and it's small drive options.
