iPod Crash?

I recently got my iPod and just transferred songs from my iMac onto it.
It worked and then it just crashed... Now the songs are gone.. (they are not shown on the iPod) and I tried connecting it back to the iMac and the iPod icons isn't there anymore..
I checked the HDD of the iPod and the songs I uploaded..(about 2-3 GB) are occupied but there are no songs there..

help please?

Did you try restoring it? To do so download the latest iPod software and just plug your ipod in and click "restore". Never had this problem myself but restoring the iPod seems like it would be a universal fix.
