Advice on refurb/second hand iPad USA

Hi

I'm going to NY this october and was looking into buying an iPad (64GB 3G) refurbed or seconhanded. How would i do that as a turist in the NYC?
And by the way, in completety new/ very well condition, how much would it max. be worth?
