Anyways.
The macbook would be my web surfer, casual gamer, light video/photo editor

iMac - Productivity - Word/powerpoint, HD video editing, Photo editing, Gaming, watching movies
 
Budget is around $2500

I would get the education discount + ipod on one
And have a friend do the same
 
I could use the SD card slot on the MBP but a USB cable running to the camera will do the trick
