I assume it's just some housekeeping. Would really suck if the reviews started over. Probably a violation of their sales agreement to erase info like that.

Obvously, it means there's a Verizon iPhone coming.

I've seen this happen a few times before, are we sure they don't reset them every now and then?

The rating Angry Birds has for example seems to be reset back to 0 every so often - this is easy to notice because it's always at the top of the App Store.
