Annoying 3G problem

Love the iPad 3G but can't figure out why it can't stay connected to 3G when it's freely available. So many times it only shows Edge but if I go into Airport mode and then turn it off I reconnect to the network with 3G full bars. Seems like the iPad gets "lazy" when it's not being used and goes with Edge instead of 3G.

You are probably in-between towers would be my guess. Sometimes happens with the phone. Cellular is not a perfect science.

Look at your cellular provider's coverage map in your local area.
