Does the paint on the U2 iPod chip easy? Scratch?or are there any problems with it?

i don't know for sure but i'm fairly sure that it's not painted. since it's not very hard for apple to get some black and red parts made :)

the U2 ipod uses double injected plastic like all the other ones. The black is actually painted on the plastic that is under the layer of clear plastic.
So it won't chip but it will scratch and get fingerprints. ;)

The big problem with the U2 iPod is that while it looks great, it scratches just as easily as the white one, and it looks RIDICULOUS in a skin. I'd say you should be okay if you buy a black skin for it. Just a thought.

Or maybe a transparent skin..?
