I have the newest 12" iBook G4 and I had it ordered with the 60gig HDD. The drive is a Fujitsu and seems to be running fine yet I can't help but notice the almost cricket-like chirp it makes when accessing data..though it also makes the traditional HDD grind..it's not a loud chirp..but it is noticable. I backed up all my data just in case...but does anyone have a clue about what I am describing?

Are you sure its the hard drive? Often portables will chirp when doing any data-intensive tasks due to the power nap function found in Apple machines.

haha that could be, I'm not so sure that's why I'm asking..this is my first laptop...I did run the hardware check and it said everything checks out fine.

yeah, i notice my powerbook sometimes will chirp a little, especially when waking from sleep, or doing other intense tasks. Its perfectly normal 🙂

awesome, thanks guys..my ipod can now go back to being a music device rather than a backup device 🙂
