My sister sent a movie of her and her fiance in Australia. She wants me to extract a picture out of the movie. It is in avi format, and I don't care what format the picture is in (well, jpg, tiff, pict, something common would be nice I guess). Can anyone tell me how to do that with quicktime pro, or some other free video editing program? Thanks, Jim.

Open movie in QT Pro - hilight the section you want the image from (try to make it only a second or two) with the bottom arrows. Copy the section to the clipboard cmd+c, open a new player (cmd+n) and paste (cmd+v). Then choose file export> image sequence and choose a folder.
