Today I updated a bunch of apps on my 1st Gen iPod Touch. After I got done updating I wanted to recharge my iPod so I left it attached. While it was still attached, I got some kind of error about it not being recognized or something, not really sure what it said exactly.
After I got that message, I got another one stating I only had 20% battery life which was odd because the meter showed between 50%-75%. I said whatever and let it go. I then notice that the meter has dropped to near zero, and that the iPod was not taking a charge. The meter on the iPod showed the plug icon as if it was fully charged, but iTunes showed no charging icon on the battery for the iPod connection.
I thought maybe it just needed a reconnect so I did that but unfortunately I still had the same no charging issue. I then decided maybe the firmware got corrupted and decided to do a restore. I clicked the button to do a restore, and got the following message...
"The iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (2006)"
There's a button to click for more information, and I get a log that contains...

My iPod constantly has the picture of the use the USB cable to connect to iTunes on the display so I've been trying the sleep/power + home button to reboot so I can do a restore, but every time iTunes sees the iPod, it tells me...
"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
I then try to reboot and restore and it just keeps going around in circles. Is there anything I can do, or does it appear that my iPod has bitten the dust with some kind of USB port failure?
