step by step instructions on iphone explorer

I'm seriously about to pull my hair out. I can not find anything like what I am looking for. Does anyone know where I can get step by step instructions on how to use iphone explorer and back up my phone? I'm assuming i can use just that and I dont need to download anything extra right? Any help would be great!!

There is not a 1-click button to back your phone up using iPhone explorer. If you want to make a backup of a certain file or folder you just drag and drop it on to your desktop.

What are the exact files/folders does iPhone Explorer back up when you click the Back Up button?
