I have been using this stand for quite some time now and didn't see it posted here so thought I would share. It's the Aluminum Gallery Easel by Umbra. I purchased mine from The Container Store for $15.00 but I have seen them online as well.
I realize there are cheaper alternatives as well as more expensive but this one works great for me. The reason I like this one is it raises my iPad up bringing it closer to eye level. It's very sturdy and no matter how straight you sit the iPad on there it never tips forward. Just wanted to share.

And when the stands not in use by my iPad it does a great job of holding my keyboard and keeping it out of the way.

Looks great. It also appears that it would be able to hold an iPad in a case.

Yes there is plenty of room for iPad case/shells. Heck you can even put the keyboard up there at the same time as the iPad :)

Easel is limited to one very upright position. If that works for you, great. For the vast majority it's a fail.

No Mr. Biggles it's a fail for you. I think the vast majority can make up their own minds. No where did I say this was the answer to the worlds problems for iPad stands. I simply said this is what I use.

I agree not all stands have to have infinite angle adjustability... they are out there if you want to pay for it... but for $15 this is a great solution!
