Did you send it in to Apple or a 3rd party repair centre? If you sent it to apple then they should have phoned you before they did anything.

Tr sending an email to sjobs@apple.com - it wont get to Steve but it will get looked at and forwarded on to someone important. Detail exactly what happened and your serial number.

If nothing happens after a few days, then just phone them and tell them that you're seeking legal advice if you really dont think you should have to pay for the repair..

I would simply refuse to pay the bill if they did this to me (I'm not suggesting you do that, could land you in some trouble.. )

Ah I see. Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do. I suppose there's two sides to the story:

-you shouldnt have to pay if they didnt even fix anything

-they dont have time to look for your computer for free - not a charity.

i'm afraid you have to look at it from their point of view - they're a business, and they have to make money somehow..

a bit of a bummer tho..

I think the theory is, you wanted it fixed, and not a quote on how much it would cost to fix - logic board replacment program or no.

It's possibly also a bit of revenge for trying to get one over on them, by claiming it as warrantable. Course, maybe I'm just cynical.

So the iBook was under warranty? If so they should have fixed it for no cost to you. I had logic board problems a couple of iBooks ago and my local authorised apple dudes had to send it off to Apple cos the logic board wasn't something they could fix (i's a pretty major thing). If you've paid for it to be fixed under warranty, you've been had.
