I saw this on slashdot and hadn't noticed it mentioned here yet:

For powerbook users, if you go to system prefs -> keyboard, there's now a checkbox letting you swap the function key behaviour so you have to hold down fn for the "special" features.

Ironically after having it drive me crazy for months, I've gotten so used to using F4/F5 for volume control, I'm not sure I want that anymore.

i, for one, love the fact most of those F keys are assigned more meaningful functions like contrast/volume adjustments by default.

but i imagine there are many out there who uses programs using those F keys for shortcuts, so i'm glad there's now an option to adjust...

Finally! I was getting rather sick of having my friends turn my brightness all the way down in Halo when they pressed F1 to see the score...
