    I have a Dual G5 Powermac. It's running 10.5 (regular)

In the not too distant future, I shall be moving to a new iMac (most likely), which leaves the question of what to do with the G5.

One thought is to turn it into a server....maybe file, maybe web..I dunno.

A further thought might be to install the Mac Server software...so the question is...what does it give me...what makes it...servery and all special....
(Is it stripped of some of the eye candy to make it sleeker? Something else?)

    Anyone have thoughts?

Mac OS X client and Server can do the same stuff. The only difference is that Server has an easy to use frontend GUI.

I'm going to have to disagree that they do the same things. Some server functions exist, but server offers a lot more.

Everything except for one or two things exist on OS X client. Everything else can be configured via Terminal to do the same stuff. This is even painfully more true for Lion's Server.app.
