So my iTunes library has increased to 10228 songs, 98% of which had been legally purchased . Ever since I crossed the 10000 mark my itunes has had some issues. it feels slower for some reason. for example, before when i used the search option beside the browse button, it showed songs as i typed letters. it now requires the entire phrase to be entered before something appears. not a big deal, but still... i enjoyed watching my library shrink down as i entered each letter...yes im weird like that. also ive been getting the revolving beah ball of doom more often now. actually it never appeared before in itunes.

im running a 1ghz 17" PB with 1 ghz ram. is it normal to experience a little system lag when we have this many aac files?

Many is the program that gets slower when dealing with significantly more data. I doubt many can boast a music collection like yours! (especially a mostly legal one that size!) Looks like iTunes too has its limits.

    im not complaining at all

i just wanted to let people know. with the 40 gb ipod stating it can hold 10k songs, and new ipods that will hold more, itll only be a matter of time before other peoples music collection reaches this size.

i for one have a passion for collecting music of all genres, from classical to canadiana. it took longer to convert my library into aac then it did to acquire it. or so it felt like.

im sure this issue will be dealt with in the upcoming release of Panther. this is by no means a PROBLEM, just a little annoyance - and thats is a bit of an overstatement
