Apple today seeded build 12F30 of OS X 10.8.5 to developers, marking the seventh beta iteration of 10.8.5, dating back to the first release on June 19th. The release comes exactly one week after the previous OS X 10.8.5 beta, build 12F26.

As with previous betas, the update contains no known issues and can be downloaded via Apple's Developer page or through the software update tool of the Mac App Store.

Apple's OS X 10.8.5 beta is being tested along side the next version of the operating system, OS X Mavericks. Apple has thus far seeded four developer previews of Mavericks and plans to offer the new operating system to the public in the fall.

I'm surprised how fast these seeds are coming off the frying pan. I literally just updated to F26 30 minutes ago.

How many betas of 10.8.5 are needed? Makes me wonder if this update is to help make the transition over to 10.9 easier with upgrading. Don't want to repeat the issues we had going from 10.7 to 10.8.

How many are needed? As many as are needed.

I'd rather they had a stable update.

Does it fix the issue with...

But seriously, can anyone tell me whether OS X is still artificially limiting the speed of file transfers on a local network over AC wifi?

With last beta build 12F26, sometimes, my rMBP 15' could not wake up from sleep. It happened far more than before.

Hope this issue is fixed. :D

I have a feeling that this is going to be released alongside 10.9 kinda like how 10.7.4 was released close to ML for those who didn't upgrade.

I doubt it

I doubt they'll wait that long to release it. I imagine this will be released to the GP in the coming week(s).

I'm surprised that I haven't found any "I hope this update fixes the issue with..." comments.

I have noticed that on a fresh restart of my Mac without downloading any file using safari, shutdown is fast. But if a single file is downloaded, the dreaded 20 second lag kicks...

I have observed this both on my iMAC 27inch and Retina 15" MBP

Both running the latest software update and with no running applications, and I close safari - wait 5 seconds, before attempting to shutdown.:)
