Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed during the company's first quarter earnings conference call that ExxonMobil will be rolling out Apple Pay support in its Speedpass+ app to conveniently pay at the pump with your iPhone.

Speedpass+ is currently supported at ExxonMobil gas stations in Salt Lake City, Houston, Charlottesville, Philadelphia and Nashville. The app supports all major credit cards and select debit cards, and it can also link with your personal checking account.

Most ExxonMobil gas stations across the U.S. are also equipped with Speedpass technology at the pump for RFID payments, and it is possible that Apple Pay support with an iPhone or Apple Watch could be introduced in the future.

Last year, rival gas station Chevron launched an Apple Pay pilot program in the Bay Area that allows customers to pay for their gasoline directly at the pump by tapping their iPhone, or an Apple Watch paired with an iPhone 5 or newer.

ExxonMobil also operates gas stations in multiple countries outside the U.S. under its Esso brand, including Australia, Canada, Singapore, the United Kingdom and elsewhere, and many are equipped with NFC readers that are compatible with contactless payment solutions such as Apple Pay, MasterCard PayPass and Visa payWave.

This would be pretty great.

How quickly will ExxonMobil roll this out everywhere?

I wonder if other gas stations will follow suite... if Cumberland Farms, Haffner's, and Gulf add it, I think that'll cover 99% of all the gas stations I ever use.

Although we're coming up on the tail end of me using gas at all... hoping to swap to Tesla within 2 years.

The first gas station that allows me to bump my phone and pay for my gas gets all my business. The gas buying process is WAY more tedious than it needs to be.

Heh, Meijer gas stations here in the Midwest have had Apple Pay support since it was it introduced. Meijer had tap-to-pay terminals installed in their pumps already so they were already compatible with it. Since there's pretty much a Meijer gas station wherever there's a Meijer store, it's where I only fill up now since there's been a rash of credit card skimming in my area recently.

I choose not to give money to ExxonMobil because they have fought adding gay and lesbians to their anti-discrimination policy.

I refuse to give ExxonMobile my money because they jack up the prices of my little Debbie snack cakes when they see me coming. They hate fat people so I'm going to complain as well about their policy.

Aren't we supposed to keep phones away from the pump to prevent potential static electricity caused fume ignitions?

Urban myth.

Kroger could take a note and get their **** together like meijer has.
[doublepost=1453947583][/doublepost]Bear in Mind that gas stations don't even have to install chip terminals until 10/2017, 2 years after retail merchants.

Keep your eyes peeled for more stations to offer NFC payment as they upgrade their POS terminals.

Since people in NJ aren't allowed to pump their own gas for whatever reason, I don't feel comfortable handing my phone to some gas attendant to pay for gas.
