So, I ordered a Macbook (2.0 White, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD) at my local Apple Retailer (not store) and they said that build to order's take 2 weeks to arrive. I'm annoyed, and thus, a rant thread.

SO, is this normal? Or what's to be expected?

Oh, and I live in Aus., if that makes any difference?

Yeah probably makes a difference that you are in Aus, everyone always takes their time to get stuff to us.

Two weeks will be gone in a flash, why worry about it?

Sounds about right. Actually, when I used to get stuff through NextByte they'd claim a couple of weeks but end up taking longer. If this happens, just keep hounding them 'til you get your MacBook. :)

Oh, gone in a flash? If I had something to do maybe, but holidays just make things seem longer.

And I wanted to get it during the holidays so I could familiarise myself with the OS before school started up but that won't be the case.

    Anyways, still a bit peeved.

    *shrug* wanted it sooner.

EDIT: It's the Domayne in Auburn, Elisha.

if you bother them enough, they may give you free shipping like they did for me.

two weeks for a BTO, not ordered directly from Apple? yeah that sounds about right.

it does seem like a long time.. gives you a chance to be proactive in getting everything ready to transfer to your mac and to read up and know what you're doing when you get it if you're new to OS X.

dametric I have a story that might make you feel better about having to wait 2 weeks. I ordered my MacBook Pro on the 18th May, the reseller took the cash out of my CC on the 19th. I got told it would take 2 weeks. So after 2 weeks I rang to ask what the ETA was they told me it will be in today and they would ship it, I waited until the next monday and it still hadn't arrived. I gave them another call asking where my machine was, the ETA had slipped until next week. We got really busy at work and I forgot about the machine, I called them again on Monday the 19th June and asked once again "WHERE THE HELL IS MY MACHINE?", I was told they would find out and call me back. 3 O'clock on the 19th they rang back and told me the machine was still at the Factory in Singapore and wasn't scheduled to leave until that Friday. I went completely off my head at them, and then I asked what machines they had in stock... they had the exact same config sitting in the store, I asked them why I couldn't have that 1? They said I could, I got it the next day.

f$cking resellers... don't get me wrong I've had no trouble with companies like NextByte or Computers Now, but this 1 unnamed reseller has finally lost my business.

I've already put everything I have onto my iPod. And I've read most of Mac 101 on Apple.com.

Gosh, risc, I wish that doesn't happen to me. (Wasn't Domayne was it?)

    Anyways, 7 days to go.

wow...i'm glad there is an Apple Store near me.

    That sucks. :(

I'm sorry that happened to you both.

It takes about two weeks when you order with those stupid stinkin' bloodsucking custom build corps (like Dell and Gateway).
