The other day on Craig's list, I saw a listing for new 20" Intel iMacs, loaded, for $1200. It claims "New! iMac 20" - 2GHz/2GB/500GB Intel Core Duo! Apple Care! - $1200"

Hard to believe that, of course. I inquired and they sent me a site link to a Soho Store. Anyone ever heard of them? Could it possibly be legit?
    Link is http://www.storesoho.com/index.php?cPath=25

Does this Soho store move around town, perhaps in the back of a truck? Seriously, a 15"MBP with 2GB RAM for $1700?

Repeat after me: "if it sounds too good to be true....."

Of course, if someone wants to buy one of those $1400 30" HD displays, then let me buy it from them, let me know ;)

    This may be telling:

Apple Store - Soho (from Apple's website) is shown here:

From the "Store Soho" site, their store is "shown" here:

    See a resemblance? Seems shady.

these guys are known scammers. You can't reach them by phone and I think they only accept wire transfers. Run away. Run far away.

Where is this State of Los Angeles?

I love how they used a photo of Apple's own store. I found this under terms and conditions: "Governing Law: THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SALE AND ANY SALE HEREUNDER WILL BE GOVERNED BY THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF LOS ANGELES, WITHOUT REGARD TO CONFLICTS OF LAWS RULES."

Cool. I had really been looking for confirmation that they were known scammers, since the deal couldn't possibly be true. I checked the other discussion. I like the 27% fell-off-the-truck tax.

Bored at work today, so I emailed and asked how he can sell so cheap if it's legit. He wrote back quickly (someone tell the feds he's at his computer!):

    Hello,

They are donated products on this sale for a very lowered prices as
you see. This is a one time sale which will not last long.

    They include Apple Care warranty.

these price remind of a time on an iRC channel with an automated machine reporting about these white-hot stolen alienwares and TVs. max'd out laptop and pc (including TWO 30inches). and they had 2 50inch SONY plasmas.. all for 600bux a piece. and if we could help em out by clearing out their inventory, 'two for 1000". they had crazy instructions and stuff like putting the money placed under the cd-case (pop it out). too sketchy and so f-in obvious..

BUT DAMN!! THOSE PRICES AT THE SOHO STORE ARE CRAZY! I'd never take the fall for the team though..

It's just about time for a shill poster to show up
and say how they were skeptical at first but they took a chance on this store, how there was a bit of a delay over payment but the 'guys' were really good about it and upgraded their shipping to overnight, and now eben thoughthey had to wait a bit, they have a great machine at a sweet price.
    Right? ;)

Living as I do just north of it, I can say that the state of Los Angeles is there is no there there.

Now the Peoples Republic of Santa Monica is another matter altogether.
