I went to compUSA today and there is barely a price drop! $1700 for the 15 inch powerbook, $900 for the 12 inch iBook, and $550 for the 1.42 ghz ppc mini!

dual core g5 2.0 Good deal.

Just got back from CompUSA... I have been in the market for a Mac Pro but I just couldn't get past the $1699.99 + 25% off = $1275 dual core 2.0 g5..... Brand new not demo or refurb. Seeing that I primarily use adobe products and archicad I went with the g5 rather than the mac pro and saved $1200 in the process. I know the mac pro is way faster but I really don't think I need all that much speed. I'm not going to notice photohop and others power until cs3 anyway.... I hope my justification is valid. :)

I better check another compusa! The one by me is seriously lacking in price drops. I want to pick a 15 inch powerbook or 12 inch powerbook.

Ok this sucks. You can check what stores carry what blowout items on compusa.com. I live in florida and none of the stores have anything good except $1600 powerbook g4's, and $2000 powermacs...Go to oklahoma: 12 inch powerbooks $1000. I would have picked one up. LAME.

is the price listed on the site (after you check your local stores inventory) the final price or do you take 25% off? Reading the site makes it sound like it is 10% off on computers... thanks..

the deal ends Saturday.....check this thread for more information. Read post 11

Also this does not apply to only PPC models. The MBP i bought was a discontinued item so it was part of this clearance

Heh the compusa near me last year had one dual 2.5 ghz g5 left and they were having a deal for 1800$ for a floormodel g5, but they gave me the last one in stock for 1800$ with free applecare. This was in around April, compusa sometimes has the best prices on stuff.

I think the local stores raised prices here to compensate for the new machines. :D

Nothing was marked down when I visited the Altamonte Springs store on Friday.

I won't buy a computer from them, but they do have great extended warranties
on other stuff like modems and printers and stuff.

The problem with Comp USA is that they carry old stock and sell it to you for
the same price as you could get a current model direct through Apple.

They do have some good deals, but I'd be sure to only buy sealed new in box items.
Their floor demos get trashed by vandals.
