    Very good list, but I think the original Macintosh should be there, after all it was the first widely available computer with a GUI, something that greatly influences us today.

    I really thought the iPod would be higher? I think if it wasn't for the iPod, MP3 players would of just been another fad.

    Wow, I thought Compaq was way ahead of the times judging by the laptop pictured. This is the model in question, hardly a laptop:

    Toshiba on the other hand claims to have launched the first (IBM-compatible) laptop in 1985:

    Used by NASA in the early 80´s, the portable designed by Briton William Moggridge for Grid Systems Corporation in 1979 was claimed to be the first true laptop:

    Apple, on the other hand, introduced it´s portable in Sept ´89:

    Indeed. I was thinking that looked (and sounded) extremely fishy. I'm used to early-80's portables looking like those Osborne/Kaypro luggable behemoths like the one you pictured.

    But dig this. All roads come from Xerox, it seems.
