Where is the best place to purchase a 2gb memory stick for a 24" iMac. I am thinking of purchasing one and want to know how much it will cost me to upgrade the ram if I do it myself and not pay the huge price to have it installed initially. I would upgrade to 2gb initially and replace one of the 1mb sticks later if I decide I need it upgraded.

The C2Duo iMac uses the same ram as the MacBook pro's to my knowledge.

A 2 gig stick costs more than double a 1 gig stick. $529 is the best I've seen for quality ram in a 2 gig stick.

Crucial is charging $919 for the same for some reason.

It was $750 a couple of weeks ago, but only as a bto add on. They don't seem to sell the ram a la carte.

OWC offers a trade in, so if you have something like the 2.33 MBP with 2 1 Gig sticks, they'll give you cash for one of the sticks when you buy the 2 gig stick. Same deal with hard drives. Just have to prove the parts are new with the receipt for the computer.
