Just a reminder that 38 years ago today Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot in Memphis.

I wonder how different the US would be today if he had never lived, and what it would be like if he had lived a full life. It's sad that we'll never know.

    "Early morning April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
they could not take your pride

    In the name of love..."

That's how I remembered today in the first place, sadly. Listening to a U2 playlist on my iPod this morning.

It's sad that he had to be turned into a martyr. He could have done so much more good. At least he'll always be remembered. We still have a ways to go, but his message lives on.

U2's lyrics are full of tributes to great people of the world. Also great social causes, etc.
