MR passed another milestone tonight...4000000 searches.

It took just under five months to go from 3,000,000 to 4,000,000. Here's to another four million searches! And another four million, and another four million...

Really? Darn! I was doing meaningless searches hoping I could work my way up to a 1600x1200 pixel avatar. I guess I should have read the rules more carefully. ;)

It is good to see so many people making use of the vast amount of information (amidst the nonsense) in these forums.

MRoogle searches don't count toward the 4,000,000 figure.

I've used the New Posts function at least three times (possibly more) in the last five months, which would have contributed to the figure. I feel so special.

Yeah. I'm noticing more and more that words I know are in a thread are simply being overlooked by me searches. It seems to have started after all those changes were made to speed the search up. :(

MR standard searches are useless most of the time.

I have been noticing a decline in MR Search "quality" lately myself.

I go 50-50 between using the forum search tool and using google with site:macrumors.com.

Hehehehe, it is funny what things people never search for. I'll throw messaging related questions in as my pick (can I do iChat/AIM webcam, how can I do MSN webcam, what messaging client can I use to get on MSN on a Mac, DOES MAC SUPPORT MSN OMG!!!!111111????? etc.).....

On the other hand, every new thread about MacBooks is like geek porn to me. :( God I want I want I want. :p

Anyway, congratulations MR on yet another metric of our huge growth! :)

I contribute heavily to those searches: I mainly use my to most precious bookmarks, one with the same link as "New Posts" and another with threads I've posted in. And then there's also my Firefox search engine for he forums (I've also got one for the Guides).

BTW, I've also noticed a decline in the MR search quality lately, and has to go the site:forums.macrumors.com @ google ever more often... :(

During the hullabaloo of today's events, MacRumors passed 5,000,000 searches.

Interestingly, it took a bit longer to go from 4,000,000 to 5,000,000 searches than it did to go from 3,000,000 to 4,000,000. I suspect that Forum Spy has cut down a bit on the obsessive New Post searches a lot of us used to engage in.

Roughly ten or eleven hours ago (while I was sleeping), MacRumors reached 6,000,000 searches.

This last million searches took about 4 months and 11 days to complete, almost a full month faster than the previous million.

Sorry, WildCowboy, that was my fault. I remembered there was a cool thread about us reaching four million searches, but I couldn't find it by searching. You see, I forgot that the title was the numeric form "4,000,000" rather than the English form "four million" so I used up 2 million searches looking for it! ;)
