a few questions.

    so i went to the att store yesterday. played with the iphone. bad mistake now i must have one. but i have a question i am a current att customer and about 6 months ago i signed a new contract and picked up a blackjack. so is there a waiting period to get a new phone? or can i just sign a new contract to get an iphone?

    im pretty sure your gonna have to pay the $175 early termination fee....and yes all you gotta do is go get your iPhone, no waiting (unless out of stock) and activate it on iTunes with the new 2 year!

    but why would i have to pay a termination fee when i am an existing customer and i just want to renew my contract? i belive they can just do a contract override because that is what they did when i bought my blackjack. but i found another problem. apparently my father(this is his cingular contract) has used his work discount before. so doesnt that make it so my account is a business and not a personal?

    It is my understanding that AT&T will allow current customers to sign a new 2 year plan and choose an iphone rate plan. No fees, well no idea about the $36 activation fee.

    I renewed my contract last month, secure in the belief that there wouldn't be any discounts for new customers, and taking a gamble on the iPhone being sold only to new customers.

    I picked up an iPhone yesterday, and activated it online with no trouble. Not that I expected any trouble, since AT&T's site says that current customers are welcome to buy one as long as they sign a new two-year contract.

    So... if you get one right now, you're basically agreeing to extend your contract for six months longer.

    well i did some reading on the att site. and found out that i can just renew my contract. but now i just need to figure out if my account is considered a business one because of the discount. and if it is i will be incredibly angry. :mad: that will keep me from getting an iphone :(

    That is indeed a problem.

    When you activate the phone, it's going to tell you that you can't use it on an account with a business discount. Your options are:

    1) Take the phone back -10% restocking.
    2) Give up the discount. (Which will be an option when you activate the phone)

    I got my first bill from At&T and bitched that they didn't give me my roll over minutes and that the bill was double. I guess they bill you a month in advance. Not knowing this I threw a fit. Well, it turns out that if you complain a little (nicely, I might add) they will work with you. They gave me 500 free roll over minutes and waved the activation charge. Considering I was the one doing the activation at home. That was like $40.00 Bucks. Playing the part of the dumb guy pays off so many times.


    It kind of makes sense. They want to sell these iPhones so fast at the AT&T store that they rush you out they explain anything to you. So it serves them right.
