    I think that's a fantastic idea, but doubt it would be appreciated in and of itself. How about including it in a card attatched to something special? Not that this isn't special, and the fact that it should be given by someone very close to the recepient goes w/o saying, but it's sort-of like buying mom a new stove or something, only worse because most men are terrified by it!
    Unless it's what he really wants, or you really want for him to want, then I think for being so personal, it's a little on the impersonal side. But, in the case of money is the only thing stopping them from doing it, then I think it could be welcomed.

    Seems it would have to be the right situation all the way around - could easily be taken as an insult (or...), say if mom-in-law gave it, etc.;)

    Be careful with this one - wide-open for mis-interpretation!
