Other than the Spanish Fort, Alabama store they all appear to be part of the twenty stores Apple said it would be opening before May 2004. I notice that with the addition of a second San Diego store, the Corte Madera opening, and the flagship store in Union Square, San Francisco, that California will shortly have seventeen stores - more than twice as many as any other state. While I appreciate the bounty for my home state there seems to be a few other places in need. Pittsburgh, KC, San Antonio, Austin, Jacksonville, and New Orleans all spring to mind. What about it Steve? after next May where are the last 24 (23 counting Alabama) US stores going to go?

Oh, I see the list seems to leave out the South Park Mall, Charlotte NC store scheduled for a Fall 2003 opening. Check out the following report to verify: http://www.bizjournals.com/charlotte/stories/2003/03/03/story4.html

Edit - Think Secret has since updated its webpage to reflect the Charlotte site.

You know, after they finish with the twenty scheduled for opening before next May, it would make a lot of sense to concentrate on the largest markets left without an Apple store. Providence is the tenth largest without a store - Mobile, Alabama is so far down the list it is ridiculous. I'm sure if Think Secret's report is correct, that the good citizens of Alabama's Gulf coast will enjoy the new store, but that's not even the biggest market in the state. I thought I had some clue of Apple's retail strategy, but this baffles me.
