so my 250gb imac is creepin on full ( maybe 3gb free ) and its startin to just feel slugish ,

so on my way home im gonna finally get a 250 external and move over most of my media over ( which hogs most of my space )

so im wondering after that whats the best way to optimize my system drive . i repair permissions regularly , but wondering if theres any other tricks out there .

thanks d0000ds

The rule of thumb is to maintain about 10% of your available hard drive space as free space. You need to archive about 22 GB of files and remove them from your hard drive. I would recommend that you buy a FireWire external drive to be used for data storage.

yeah, only 3gb free is pushing it - the external is a good idea.

Use disk inventory x to find your large files and see where all you space has gone.

You can use Monolingual to remove unwanted language files and free some space.

To troubleshoot problems and free caches etc use Applejack.
