Adam beat Jack down. that was funny as hell.

The only way Jack rebutted was with, "you need to do some real research, not just state your opinion" even though Sessler more or less proved he had done as much research as Jack.

Sessler didn't beat anyone down except what little bit of the English language he managed to stutter out. The only one worth listening to was the GameDaily guy, but he was slow in talking..

G4 kinda messed up a good opportunity to really trash Thompson, they should have chosen better people to battle him.

Agreed, I really didn't even like to listen to Adam try to talk... his attitude and approach made me groan. He was the only person hyperventilating and making himself look like an idiot.

I thought it was sad that he actually made Jack seem like more of a professional than himself.

    *thumbs down* to Adam.

I actually felt like Adam pretty much got spanked too. While I agree with Adam, he actually came out with nothing besides opinion and "your wrong!". The CEO of the magazine put out more info than Adam did, and had better points to argue with. Without watching it again, I'm not sure what argument Adam made, other than to argue against whatever Sessler made.

But that's what you get when you try and take on a lawyer in a battle of worlds without preping for it

Jack Thompson basicly was left stuttering with nothing to say but "you need to do some research...".

Smack down, even if Adam stuttered just as much, he was the only one with a working arguement left.

The guy in the middle was the only reasonable one there. As much as I love X-play, the CEO guy was the only person who presented a reasonable opinion without stuttering and self-righteous speaches. This is like when the government tried to shut down the porn industry. It is called the 1st amendment. Know it. Read it. Love it.

I must have missed Adam's "Working argument". Could you try and reiterate it for me here? All I saw was Adam just saying "You're wrong!" over and over and not backing up anything he said.
Jack on the other hand was calm and brought forward research and facts. Even if there is other research and facts to counter Jack, it was not brought forward by Adam, but by the CEO and at times, the host.

    ps
Stuttering does not make you a bad performer or debater, it doesn't look clean when one hyperventilates while stuttering, but I take a slight bit of offense when people say it's a bad argument based on that.

Honestly, can no one here see that a child playing a violent video game can cause/emphsize aggressive behavior much like participating in other violent situations can? Some kids play these games for hours on end and that kind of exposure to this sort of thing just can't be healthy.

Jack Thompson really looked bad on that segment. Then again he was outnumbered and was on a video game network which already had some biased against him.

Jack looked like the idiot on the segment to me. I liked what Adam had to say, and Mark Friedler points were very strong and hard to argue with.

Violence is inherent in human nature just like good deeds are as well. However, you shouldn't ever underestimate the power that outside influences have on us, especially children. There is just no way in the world that these games can be healthy. Games like Brain Age are what kids should be playing, not this.

It's funny you say that. My friend, who is a lawyer, said the same exact thing a few weeks ago.

Think of violent video games like junk food. The more fast food resturants there are, the fatter americans become. Basically, there are heather things that your children could be focusing their attention on. This really can't be disputed. People exposed to violent situations are more aggresive than those who aren't and it works the same with video games, movies, news, and everything.

Are fast food resturants inherently evil just because a person could be eating something healthier? I'm inclined to say no. They serve a purpose, and too much of it is a very bad thing. However anything taken to an extreme will have a negative effect on our life. We need balance in all things to be a well rounded, smart, intelligent loving, and sane human being.

Without question! Should a child have his nose in a book, and practice chess his entire childhood?

Is aggression a bad thing? Aggression is what gives us the drive to accomplish certain things and tasks, that are very good for us and for the people around us. Aggression is what is going to protect my sister if someone ever tries to mess with her, I just might get a little aggressive in that circumstance.

Just because those who play video games are more aggressive doesn't mean they are inherently more evil or worse for society. I just got off of 2 hours playing WC3, and personally I feel like a nap, not harming a living thing, or even abusing anything in any way

This is very true!! I'm a college kid and as such see many video game players, and they habits. Personally, do you know when I see the most violent and agressive behavior? The times when it looks like someone might actually cause harm to another human being? IM Soccer. That's right, it's not war games, it's not pong, it's an athetic sport. Runner up would be Ultimate Frisbee. Perhaps we should ban athetic sports, they obvously not only cause agressive behavior, they PROMOTE IT in order to WIN! *GASP*

Now there are people that spend too much time playing games, and that is a different problem. But out of all the males I know on my campus, the gamers are the least agressive bunch out there, the partiers and drinkers are far mor elikely to cause problems.

I bet more criminals played sports or ate toast or were abused as children, and yet no one wants to blame that, No, it's has to be the relatively recent addition of video games into our culture that causes kids to want to harm humanity and kill.
btw, in the last 10 years crimes by minors has gone down, not up. Go figure.

Oh, I fully agree. I think children should not be exposed to M rated content, any more than they should not be exposed to R rated movies, pornography, or anything else. Young developing minds and all. In fact, I'm 18 and I don't own one M rated game, on principle.

However, Mark Friedler was the correct one. It's a PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY to keep that out of the hands of children. It's already illegal to sell an M rated game to a minor anyway.

Maybe you don't know about Jack Thompson. This is the guy that calls himself "the foot soldier of god", hates all video games, has blamed games for murders because a killer happened to own a copy of the game in his house, has been thrown out of court multiple times for misconduct in court, has stated "kiss your games industry goodbye" and calls "gamer's ideas" the "latest oxymoron".

That's why they sell these shirts.

The guy is a stuck up jerk. I agree with him that violent videogames should be kept away from minors. But the guy's methods are insane.

Let's put out some Jack Thompson emails and quotes shall we?

-this one is funny. See, in The Sims, naked Sims are blurred out. If you hack the game to remove the blur, there is no genitalia- they are like Barbie dolls. However, HACKERS AND MODDERS on the internet, with no support for EA, released mods for the game that change the Sims model to add genitals. Guess what? Jack Thompson sued EA for it.

Good things to read to find out why we dislike him:
