    Hey.
I don't think his is the right place to put this but I'm going to.
Is there such thing as a dial up to ethernet converter?
I have dial up and the computer I'm getting only has an e-net port in it.
It would be easier to by an adapter than a $50 external modem.
    Thanks.

wouldn't an adaptor just be an external modem? After all, it still needs to act like a modem. The ethernet post does not have that capabiliity by itself. I suppose you could get a router with a dialup modem in it, that would let you connect your computer via ethernet. But i'm not entirely sure that's easier, or cheaper for that matter.

    yeah, but...

Yes, of course an adapter would be cheaper...but how would it actually dial in to the network without a modem....?

An ethernet port is just that, a port.

Oh yeah. I didn't even consider it not having an internal modem.
Duh. Years of dialup have corrupted my head.
