In adobe Illustrator CS3 I am trying to convert a corner on a path into a pointed corner. Does anyone know how to do this, or why on one side the corner is pointed an on the other it is not?

I know how to join two endpoints and then specify what type of corner I want but this path is already joined. I could break the path and then join it again but I have to do this a few dozen times throughout the drawing so that will take a lot of time.

I assume that the correct corner type is selected in the stroke palette already? I would probably use the Convert Anchor Point tool (Shift+C) to re-drag the handles and see if that helped.

If the points are joined as one, then you can get the stroke to have a sharp corner in 2 ways-

    1. increase the miter limit in the stroke palette

    or

    2. also in the stroke palette, change the stroke to "inside stroke"

    Have you tried redrawing it?

The miter limit in the stroke palette is the answer. Select the corner point and adjust the miter limit up until the corner sharpens. It's simple. I do this all the time.
