iOS "Adult" applications in the app store

Can someone point out to me any limitations or rules that Apple has set out regarding the content of iphone applications? I have a application in mind to develop but before going further into it I thought I would ask.. has anyone seen such a content restrictions?

No.. it's not porn. But it's not material that children should be viewing... it wouldn't be overly graphic or obscene.. but informative adult material.

Do you guys know this by first hand experience or can you reference something?

agreed, tell us what it is, and what do you consider an age would be? i'm 20, am I old enough lol? I think if there is a general WARNING: ADULTS ONLY it would be acceptable, but dont think apple can control it by age you know.

As far as I am aware, Apple will reject any type of content that is limiting of certain ages, including adult material. Age restrictions would be far too difficult on Apple's part to keep right.

It's in the developer agreement found when signing up for the iPhone developer program.

Apple can pretty much reject anything that in their sole judgment might be objectionable to their customers.

Think Disney (where Jobs is on the board of directors) G rated.

With all due respect... I think I've described it generally (but fairly) well and I know it's a good idea... but if I tell you what it is (exactly) then what would stop you from stealing the idea and beating me to the launch?

you really haven't explained what your app is for or does. "adult content" would make it sound like porn. If it has anything to do with nudity or implied nudity Apple will reject it I am sure.

Simulated gambling isn't the gambling that state law applies to.

Now if a company made an application where you can only play poker if you purchase credits and can win credits...then it'd be rejected.

I'm guessing a "Guide to Better Sex" type thing or perhaps a "Adult Friend Finder" type thing, based on the "informative adult material" statement.

I don't think apple will allow an app that is straight out porn, there was a soft porn app that made it into the app store for a teensy amount of time, then was pulled. But one of the video apps has a "block adult content" toggle in preferences, and the backgrounds app has models in bikinis/covering certain parts. So it really depends on the app I think.

I can't give specifics (hi NDA!), but I know several developers who created PG-13 level apps that Apple rejected.

Apps need to be suitable for a general audience (kid-safe).

These weren't games, though, so the rules may be different for games.
