Saw this and thought it was pretty cool, 3M advertising their Security Glass (refreshing to see advertisers putting their money where their mouth is!) :

Oh and yes the money is real!

Wonder if they would be pissed off if you sprayed it with liquid nitrogen and checked to see if it gets brittle.

Actually, only the top layer is real - about $5000. The rest is fake. They also applied this to other formats : a $20 bill behind the security glass in men's bathrooms by the urinals, etc. It is very clever and the exposure they generated by people trying to get to the money is better than a trade ad that they would have normally done...

    Again, concept is king.

So if you actually were able to get the cash, but were caught, would you be charged with criminal damage and theft?

Only the top bills are real? Oh well.

The idea is pretty neat! And is the one in the men's restroom in Vancouver, too? They should have it in the women's restroom, too, and see which one gets broken into first.

Sun Baked, did you recently crop your avator?

Superb. Advertising is either complete meaningless s***, or quite brilliant. This is the later :D

hmmm...interesting, but nothing is indistructable. I wonder if there is fine print with the glass - not to be used for airplane, submarine and spacecraft. Maybe they should stick David Blaine in some...;)

Added a couple of frames, easier to see the evil muppets that way.

    Brilliant . :)

Now where in Vancouver are these boards located, who says this glass cannot be broken into. I love a challenge and the money is just a bonus. ;) :)

Now where did I leave my "break-in" kit. :D

I thought those looked like Canadian 20's... great ad campain, but lord help them when one guy figures out some technique to defeat the glass and posts it on the net. That would be embarrasing for 3M and I'm willing to bet counter productive for sales!

It would be great if robbers just took the whole display and tried to crack it open in some remote area.

They can make the best glass, but screws are screws!

Hah, this appeared a while ago in my newspaper. I live in Vancouver. As far as I remember, only the top bills are real, the rest are just pieces of paper with the edges dyed.

Pretty cool though. I was tempted to take the bus around town and see if I could find this thing.

That's a seriously effective campaign. From someone who doesn't know about any brands of safety glass, they'll definitely get my cash next time I'm in the market. Do you reckon they wrote off the $5000 in the advertising budget? Are they expecting it to go walkies?

Remember, 5000 canadian, which is $4065.37 USD. Ontop of that, I do wish they would stick David Blane in there. I'm sick of his stunts.
