    It's sad that their first democractic election has to be mared like this. Hopefully it can get smoothed out so this is just a speedbump and not a roadblock.

    unfortunately, the hardest part about having an election is actually having the election. i'll be very interested to see:
    1. how the afghans handle it
    2. how the UN handles it
    3. how bush responds to it

    Bush is kinda stuck. If they push to vote right away, they're rushing things before they are ready. If they delay the election, it is seen as either a conspiracy to avoid a democracy or letting the terrorists win. Kinda put them between a rock and a hard place.

    What else can be expected?

    The local Warlords were put in charge of security. That'd be a bit like having the votes tallied on Carl Rove's laptop. :rolleyes:
