well...its been two months since I moved to the new house and we finally have broadband. We were using dialup through work with a wopping 28k connection. We had Adelphia PowerLink at the old house.

The only braodband options we had here were D-way and Sprint DSL. We went with Sprint as D-way costs a fortune, and I have heard bad things about it. So for you out there that has sprint DLS, what do you think of it. Its been two days and I have had a constant 100Mbps. Not great but better than nothing I guess. How do you guys feel about your service? Anything I should expect?

    Thanks
    Joe

100 Mbps isn't great? Are you sure you don't mean 100KBps?

Bet you're glad you've got broadband on the go, I wouldn't like to have tried downloading the whopper that was 10.3.9 on a 28k connection!

For that I took my machines into work and used our T1 connection.

and yeah, I meant 100kbs. I was used to a little over 150 with powerlink.

I'm jealous, sadly I can't get broadband back since I moved.

It's been 2 hair pulling, head bashing, eye rolling, deep sighing years without it. :(

I was going to say... I have a 4Mbs cable connection. I think I regularly get about 350K to 600K on downloads.

I'm hopefull verizon will bring FiOS here soon (Two communities around me have it) as it will be faster and cheaper. 5Mbs/2Mbs for 39.99 (I think 34.99 if you have Verizon Tellephone service), 15Mbs/2Mbs for 49.99, and 30Mbs/5Mbs(I think) for 199.99. Sign me up. I think the 5 willbe fine, but the 15 (@ the price I pay now) just sounds irresistible. the 30 is out of the question expensive, but maybe we could get it to replace our old T1 at work. :)

I have Sprint DSL service here in Carlisle, PA and have had it for about a year or so. It's not bad. From DSL reports speed test, I get:

    2005-04-20 11:48:47
    EST: 332 / 118
Your download speed : 340797 bps, or 332 kbps.
    A 41.6 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 121696 bps, or 118 kbps.

What speeds are you returning from that test? I know my neighbor down the road gets 7 times the speed I do on his Comcast cable connection.

Your download speed : 1044163 bps, or 1019 kbps.
    A 127.4 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 375340 bps, or 366 kbps.

Thats a big difference from just down the road a little.

I saw a sign saying Verison FiOS comming soon. I might have to look into that when/if it ever gets here.
