Actually, it's more like the ambient sensor is having trouble figuring out the, er, ambient light. At least that's what I thought - until I switched it off, and noticed it still happening. In fact - and I may be imagining this, it doesn't seem as though the screen is as bright as it was - even with brightness whacked up to max (yep, I've cleaned it - and I only ever use iKlear).
I only got around to installing 8.3 a few days ago - and now I can't recall if this was an issue under 8.1.2 (never got around to installing anything in between).
I hope it's not hardware, as my nearest store is a 200-mile round-trip away, and I'm not able to make the journey.
Hardware…? Software…? Any way of testing…? It's not in a case (it was but it broke).
