My wife and I are considering an Air for our house. My question was about an external monitor for docking the Air. We a few year old 24' monitor pushing 1900x1200 rez. After reading many reviews I understand the Air can push a 2569x1440 Thunderbolt with ease.

My question is would the Air have an easier time pushing my 1900x1200 or would the external monitor rez not matter to the Air as it will be using the same effort either way? I'm sure this is obvious but I wanted to know for my own curiosity. Thanks for yall's time!

More pixels means more processing power is needed, hence 1920x1200 requires less resources than 2560x1440.

I'm running my air with 1900 x 1200 and it works great.

My air pushed 2560x1600 (Dell 30") with no problems whatsoever. I am now using the Thunderbolt display, and playing Jedi Knight 2 at 2560x1440. No lag. Looks beautiful.
