I think I'm in love. I can stream movies to the Apple TV from my iPad, then multitask to do other stuff, then if I leave the room I can pull the video back to the iPad and continue watching it! It's like a dream come true for me :D

I'm jealous. Can't seem to get video from my iPhone to my ATV. I'm currently enjoying streaming Pandora to my stereo though.

Wouldn't it be easier to just play the same videos via iTunes Home Sharing? Presumably, any video on the iPhone/iPad is already sync'ed to your desktop iTunes.

Personally, I was hoping to be able to AirPlay-push the videos that AREN'T normally in my iTunes library... e.g. XviD videos, camera roll videos, etc. But apparently, none of this is supported by AirPlay.. As it stands, AirPlay doesn't do much for me and my typical use cases :(

Sometimes I don't have my macbook on (like when I'm in bed), but I still want to watch movies I have; so for me, being able to stream to the Apple TV from my iPad is perfect! Luckily most of my digital stuff is iTunes files (digital copies with bluray/dvds mostly) :D

That doesn't seem to be working or else not supported. I've had no luck either with video from the iPhone4. iPad video is working fine though. Very slick.

Yeah, I can see it being handy on occasion, for those who don't have an always-on computer.. My Mini is on 24x7, so makes no sense to stream from iPad and waste its battery..

I am hoping Apple will expand AirPlay beyond just iTunes video.. XviD video, camera roll content, iOS games (!!).. Only then it becomes truly useful for most people.

Just finished watching a 2 hour movie (Scott Pilgrim vs The World, I totally heart my US iTunes account :) ) and the iPad's battery dropped all of 3% (from 82% to 79%) Truly impressed, because I was showing it off to the rest of my family, too :D

So, 4.2.1/4.1/whatever it is on the Apple TV/etc is fantastic for what I'll be using it for! I can't wait until I can AirPlay stuff like Galaxy on Fire 2 on my TV :D :D

For all the people who had been complaining that they have to keep their computer on and iTunes running, I would imagine this is very useful. In fact, you can now say the Apple TV no longer requires a computer and iTunes running. If you have an iOS device, it now basically has a mobile hard drive with a built in touchscreen remote and the ability to switch between your big screen TV(s) and your mobile screen at will.

How About from iTunes TO iPad??

I thought that with the 4.3 update I would be able to "pull" content -Movies/Videos mainly- from my iTunes library and play it on my iPad. No such luck!! I would love to be able to watch a video -that resides in iTunes- on my iPad through AirPlay and Home Sharing. This seems impossible to achieve. I can send it to AppleTV with no problem, but when I hit "Play" on the video -through the Remote app- it starts playing on my MacBook Pro. If I'm lying in bed and my MBP is three rooms away, what good is that to me?? Am I doing something wrong, or I'm correct in not being able to do it?

FYI - You may have to reboot your iDevices (including the Apple TV) after you upgrade to 4.3.

I kept getting AirPlay audio only in third-party apps until I restarted my Apple TV, iPad and iPhone 4.

You don't do this via AirPlay (I made same initial mistake) but rather through Home Sharing. Go the Settings > iPod on your iPad and input your home sharing Apple ID and password. Once done, go to either iPod or Videos on your iPad and you will now see a Shared tab next to Movies at the top of the Video's app or a Library tab on the left column in your iPod app. Select either and you should see and be able to play anything in your iTunes library.

EDIT: Probably would have been helpful for me to click on the link wrkngclasshero provided--exactly what I was trying to explain.

You guys ROCK!! At first I was not seeing the "Shared" tab in my Videos app. It took one sync and Voila!! That's what I'm talking about!!

    Thank you so much!

Agree! Agree! Agree! Agree! Agree! Agree! Agree! Agree!

I just love it that from my Ipad I can output video, photos and youtube on a website (eg nascar.com) wirelessly to my ATV2 with my PC off. It has already come in handy.

Best feature ever!!! Finally it's coming together.

I am loving AirPlay and it has so much potential. A few issues I am having, should I be able to send video from my iPad to my appleTV and the use multitasking on the iPad to surf while the video still plays on the ATV. Currently I can not.

Also Vevo is very hit and miss on how it's AirPlay works

Airplay + iPad + Air Video

Adding in AirVideo and this is just a killer combo. With this $2.99 cent app, i can watch any video that's on my computer, not just the apple formatted ones. Saves converting with handbreak and works on AppleTV flawlessly (though i have not tried 720p content yet).

Hi How did you manage to get all your movies working with apple tv2? I have purchased air video today and all i can get is audio to my atv2 while the movie plays on my ipad? I taught this whole idea of airplay was to transfer video to tv?

P.S youtube video transfer no prob:confused:

This works for me fine. From my Ipad I play a video, output to ATV2, double press and change to safari, and the video still plays. I have upgraded both ipad and ATV2 to 4.3 and rebooted the ipad.

I also convert all my videos to an iOS format. Makes life easier.

You need to have the latest beta of air video server installed. http://www.inmethod.com/forum/posts/list/3039.page

If you do, I've read that you need to restart appletv, iPad, and airvideo server and that will solve the problem.

Yep, you need the latest Beta of Air Video Server installed on your computer. Yesterday, I was able to watch 1080p .mkv files on the Apple TV with no jailbreaking necessary. And they looked fantastic! The Beta server converts on the fly at up to 5mbps bitrate.

There is no way I would buy any other media device now without Airplay support. It's simply that good.
