sorry in advance as I could not find the airport form. I am trying to use the Airport disk option in my AirPort Extreme AC to have NAS for my MacBook Pro. Sadly it's soo slow... I'm using a USB 3.0 drive that gets good read/wright when directly connected to my MBP. However, when going through the Airport, it's moving at like 1/10th the speed. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sounds normal. For one thing, the USB port on the AirPort Extreme is only USB 2.0. I believe the vicinity of 20-30 MB/sec is the expected speed.
Interesting that its only USB 2.0, when one of the main benefits of AC is the throughput over the LAN.

OP: Time to get a proper ethernet based NAS if you want faster read/write.

I see about 10 MB/s transfer speeds on the HDD attached to my 5th gen AirPort Extreme. It's just slow, unfortunately.
